Elvan Ikat and Suzani Kaftan
Hand-dyed, hand-loomed, and meticulously handmade by skilled artisans in Uzbekistan, our Elvan Ikat Kaftan showcases captivating contrast through its hand-embroidered Ikat panels. Each one-of-a-kind kaftan is sewn in Turkey and finished in Germany.
Uzbekistan's cultural prestige finds representation in the use of Ikat fabric, a tradition laden with symbolism. In the local Uzbek language, Ikat finds its origins in the Persian word 'abr,' meaning 'cloud,' reflecting the patterns resembling clouds in the sky and their mirrored image in water.
The creation of Ikat fabric involves an intricate resist-dye weaving technique. Threads are bundled and bound with precision to prevent dye penetration, a craft often executed by Ikat masters. Subsequently, the dyed threads find their place on looms, weaving into the vibrant and unique Ikat textiles. These exceptional fabrics take shape as coats, embodying longevity and individuality, destined to withstand time's passage.
Crafted entirely from cotton and silk, the kaftan provides optimal comfort through its lining. The sizing is ONE SIZE.
